General Notes (Husband)
Esau Medcalf on the 1901 census is misspelled as Esaw and his age is given as 54 therefore born 1847.. this is incorrect.
His name is misspelled again as 'Esaw' on the 1881 census and aged 38 ie: born 1842/43 which is about right.
My Mother, Mortimers Daughter Molly, (my mother) once told me her father was one of 12 children, however to date i can only find records naming ten of these.. three of these were born after 1881 Census! Two may have died very young?

Smith Hannah Bloomsbury 1 86
General Notes (Wife)
The 1901 census gives Hannah as age 55 therefore born 1846 which is not correct.
Her age is correct however on the 1881 census as 38 ie: born 1842.
Research Notes (Wife)
Robert Medcalf, Hannah's father in law may have been the landlord of the pub after he retired. Family stories say he tried his hand at pub life for a short time. We believe her brother George then took it over.
