Hannah King (nee Wakeling) was the first victim in Islington of the 1832 Cholera epidemic.
Barnabas Webb (1760-1846) a diarist of Haverhill wrote-
"Hannah King of Halstead went to Mr Walpole's to see her daughter, was well on Thursday morning and died of the Cholera on Saturday morning, to the great grief of her three daughters and friends.
She had the most pleasing address of any woman i ever knew"
When the authorities of the parish knew that she had died of cholera, they demanded the body and carried it to the hospital, to have it buried immediately.
