Dear Marie, Here is the answer to your Elizabeth Miles and William Chatfield. Besides William would have been a bit young to be getting married in 1827. He probably was married 10 or 12 years later. I also have his birth month as May not Dec. Let me know about the GEDCOM. Joy Hello Joy - So good to hear from you, and to learn that you have tracked another ancestor, William. And so glad to hear that the DNA results are so encouraging, they really are a better confirmation than any paper trail could be, but still, it will be a thrill to find the paper as well ... Yes, I have a bit of info on Elizabeth Miles and the William Chatfield she married. Elizabeth's first husband was Samson Miles, and they had at least one child, a daughter. Her second husband whom she married at Tonbridge on 18 Oct 1827, William Chatfield, born 1779 at Otford, Kent, was the son of William Chatfield b. 1751 Sevenoaks, and Sarah Gazup (Jessup) b. 1756. This marriage was also the second for William 1779: his first wife was Elizabeth Jessup, they married 17 May 1801 in Sevenoaks, Kent, and had four children. (One of them was a William, b. 3 Aug 1805 at Sevenoaks, but I don't know any more about him. The late Joyce Aylward, Kent researcher extraordinaire, descended from Robert, another son of William 1779 and Elizabeth Jessup.) Elizabeth Jessup/Chatfield died 1825 aged 50. William Chatfield and Elizabeth Miles had no children from their marriage. The 1851 Census has William in the Sevenoaks Weald Almshouse, age 72, labourer, husband of Elizabeth; Elizabeth, wife of William, was a nurse at Panthurst Farm, age 60, born Wilmington. William 1779 died in 1854. I don't have a date of death for Elizabeth. The Vestry Minutes Overseers Reports of St Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks, have : 1831 - William Chatfield and Wife attended with her daughter by her first husband (Samson Miles) in receipt of a pension of 2 shillings a week for a girl age 11 years. 1832 - William Chatfields Wife applied for a pair of shoes for her daughter aged 12 by her first husband Samson Miles ... Allowed. (Research of Joyce Aylward). So Elizabeth Miles and William 1779 seem to be living in Sevenoaks and Sevenoaks Weald rather than Hadlow. William 1779 was an older brother of my gggfather Richard. William Chatfield b. 1751 Sevenoaks and Sarah Gazup, their parents, are as far back as we have gone so far. All these Williams and Elizabeths are not only monotonous, but downright confusing. I do hope the Hadlow ones sort themselves out for you. All the best, Kathy
