My Suffolk Family

These postcards were sent to me from Beverley Evans in New Zealand...Beverley's Grandmother left Ipswich about 1908-9 for Brisbane, Australia. She compiled an album of all the postcards, Christmas cards etc that she received from her friends in Suffolk. A few of them from the period 1905 - 1910 are reproduced here.

I was born in Ipswich and my Father's side of the family were born and brought up here from about 1910 so these postcards have a special significance to me!

St Mary's Church, Bedingfield, Suffolk More information about this church can be seen on Simon's Suffolk Churches Website where there is an almost identical photograph, http://www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/bedingfield.html	Christchurch Mansion in Christchurch Park, Ipswich. This beautiful building is Tudor and was built between 1548 & 1550. It is situated just outside Ipswich Town Centre. I remember it for being a school trip destination, usually to see the Art Gallery or exhibitions. www.ipswich.gov.uk/tourism/guide/mansion.htm
Christchurch Mansion, looking across the Round Pond in Christchurch Park. A Firework's Display is held annually in the Park and well worth the visit.	Debenham is a lovely Suffolk Village, not far from Bedingfield and to the North East of Ipswich
Gainsborough Lane is part of the beautiful area called Piper's Vale in Ipswich and is close to the River Orwell. The Lane once had huge Elm Trees that towered above the lane.	Gainsborough Lane.The Lane led down to Pond Hall Farm, although is a shadow of it's former self since the Orwell Bridge was constructed close by in the early 1980's.

Baptist Church and Lower Esplanade, Sandgate, Queensland, Australia. I have had clarification from a number of people that this isn't Suffolk but as I like the postcard I don't want to remove it!
